What is pcBaseline? pcBaseline is a software program created to consolidate the tracking of vital aspects of your computer into one software solution. pcBaseline allows you to create baselines (or snapshots) of vital aspects of your computer. A baseline can be defined as a set of critical observations or data used for comparison. The key to pcBaseline is that it allows you to compare baselines of vital aspects of your computer to the current state. By comparing a baseline to the current state you are able to track changes to your computer. |

· Create baselines of vital aspects of your computer for comparison. · Compare the current state to any baseline created to get a quick visual indication as to what has changed since the baseline was created. · Create custom items to allow baselines to be created for a folder and its contents, a registry key and its values or an INI file and its contents. · Generate reports for the current state, baselines and comparison reports in any of the following file formats: ASCII text, html and excel. · Numerous wizards that provide an efficient way to create baselines, compare baselines and generate reports. |

Using pcBaseline gives you the ability to create baselines of vital aspects of your computer. By creating baselines you are storing a wealth of knowledge about your computer. This knowledge can be used to help track down the cause of behavioral changes to your computer such as increased pop-up ads and slower performance caused by more running processes. By comparing the current state to a baseline, you can efficiently track the changes made on your computer and deal with these changes as you see fit.
pcBaseline is not a service or a constantly running/monitoring background process. This prevents pcBaseline from tying up system resources and allows you to use pcBaseline without worrying about taking a performance hit with your computer.
Most “anti-“software are only as good as the viruses/spyware/malware they are aware of. Because of this, it is very likely that your computer could be infected before an update to your “anti-“software is made available. This is where pcBaseline can help. By creating baselines of vital aspects of your computer, and being able to compare them to the current state, you will be able to track changes made to your computer and then make educated decisions on how to deal with the changes. pcBaseline works under the premise that processes, services, browser objects and the like can run, but they can’t hide.
Note: pcBaseline is not intended to replace anti-virus, anit-spyware or any other type of “anti-“ software, but rather to complement the use of these other software programs.
Another benefit of using pcBaseline is to not rely on the restoration of a backup to get your computer working again. While creating backups are necessary, having to rely on using them can cost you (among other things): · loss of data · applications that were installed after the backup · knowledge as to what went wrong to be able to prevent the problem from happening again! |

Anyone can use pcBaseline. Creating baselines does not require any type of advanced skill set. Even if you do not fully understand the items that are base-lined, it will still prove beneficial for you to create baselines for these items. You will then be in a position to have someone that is knowledgeable in these areas to help you make educated decisions. Having baselines and being able to generate comparison reports will be a tremendous advantage. |

Can I use pcBaseline if I already have a problem with my computer? Yes. Even though pcBaseline works best when baselines are created and compared to the current state, you can still benefit from using pcBaseline even if you do not have baselines created. Beyond creating and comparing baselines, pcBaseline offers a single interface to view the current state of many vital aspects of your computer. Even without comparing baselines, pcBaseline can be helpful in viewing vital aspects of you computer in a more efficient manner. Along with viewing these vital aspects, pcBaseline also provides commands that are relevant to each aspect to allow you to work even more efficiently within each vital aspect.
